After 8 years together, Kim and I felt we were up for our next big adventure and ready to start a family. We got pregnant on our first try and before we even started discussing possible names, “Melody” just came to Kim in a daydream. We both agreed that it is the perfect name for our baby girl!
Meanwhile, the idea for this album had been brewing for quite some time and the stars had finally aligned for me to record at Sony. I realized that this collection of songs that highlighted so many important people and events in my life surely needed to include what will undoubtedly be the most life changing experience of all – my transition into fatherhood!
The pressure was on and with only 2 weeks to compose a song worthy of my first child, I was struggling to come up with the perfect “melody.” I tried my best to relax and trust the process. With only 2 days left and after a long, frustrating evening trying to come up with something, I went to bed to sleep on it. That night I had a dream that delivered not only the melody to me, but also some lyrics to get me inspired!
