My Dearest Someone

After graduating from UCSB, and a year post-college of working in San Francisco, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my music career. Starting my adult life in a new city, I was ready for anything. I met Julia while I was working as a personal trainer at 24 Hour Fitness to supplement my music income. She was a go-getter and an adventurer. Our relationship was intense and moved quickly but also became unstable. Julia’s creative outlet of expression was writing poetry. “My Dearest Someone” was the title of one of the few poems she gave me permission to read. I was very captivated by its intensity and raw emotion and I knew it would be the perfect title for her song. Without words, this piece goes deep into a story-telling musical dialogue. From the beginning dance of two hearts meeting, through the building passion and rise of conflict, to the eventual fading of love into a fond memory, each role in the relationship has a voice. Listening to the interplay of these voices creates the feeling of being immersed into the experience.
